It was the strangest thing. The magi read the signs in the heavens, and deduced that a royal baby had been born. They travelled to Jerusalem, and there they went straight to the palace. Of course. Where else? Herod, though, knew nothing of the matter. So he sent for the Temple scholars. But why didn’t they accompany the magi to Bethlehem?
