Easter

Easter is the major festival of the Christian Year, and celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus after his death by crucifixion at the time of the Passover in Jerusalem. Where does the word “Easter” originate? Why have we abandoned the connection with Passover? Are there pagan elements in the celebrations? Does this matter?
